Freshmen

Freshmen must complete 20 hours of Christian Service. For 12 of these hours, freshmen are required to participate in the Saint Peter's Prep Community Tutoring program.  The goal of the program is to provide local grammar and middle school students tutoring and recreation after school, while also giving Prep freshmen an opportunity to use their education to help those in need.

Prep works with Jersey City Schools Public School #16, Middle School #4, or Public School # 3 to coordinate this program. All are within blocks of Prep.  Prep freshmen will serve for two weeks, afterschool, from approximately 3p.m. until 4:45p.m.   Students can sign up for these sessions at www.spprep.org/13service.

Prior to their service, students must attend an orientation period with Ms. Toomb.  Upon completion of their service, each student must write a reflection paper about their time at the schools.

The remaining 8 service hours are for the freshmen students to begin to pursue their own interests in Christian Service. It can be completed through Christian Service done as a member of a Prep athletic team or club, opportunities posted by Ms. Toomb, or any Christian Service done outside of Prep that is approved and verified by the Assistant Director of Campus Ministry. Please contact Ms. Toomb at toombm@spprep.org or (201) 547-6457.

I am only one; but still I am one.
I cannot do everything, but still I can do something.
I will not refuse to do the something I can do.
