Because Saint Peter's Prep is a college preparatory school, the College Placement Office is one of the busiest rooms on campus, and each day students enjoy its new, expanded home on the second floor of Mulry Hall. Complementing various computer programs are viewbooks, catalogs, brochures and applications representing virtually every college and university in the country, along with many respected college reference guides. Video equipment is also available for viewing the room's growing collection of institutional videotapes and DVD’s. The heartbeat of the college admissions process for Prep students emanates from the school's college placement staff. Mr. Jim Dondero, '66, the director with over 20 years of experience in the field is joined by Mr. Jordan Roldan, '03, Mrs. Erin Knittel, and Mr. Joseph Korfmacher. Each year, representatives from over 60 colleges and universities visit Prep during our two college representative nights, and students are aided in the college search process through group guidance classes and individual interviews with college placement counselors. Also, parents are kept abreast of the latest trends in admissions, scholarships, and financial aid through special Parents' Information Nights that often feature administrators from college admission offices. Some ninety-nine percent of our graduates attend four-year colleges annually. Approximately one-half attend colleges outside of New Jersey, with the greatest number of students remaining in the mid-Atlantic and the northeast corridor. Prep alumni attend such schools as the Ivy League institutions, Georgetown, Holy Cross, Boston College, and many other highly competitive colleges out of state.
