Application Information

Campus Ministry is accepting applications from members of the Class of 2010 for:

  • Eucharistic Minister
  • Emmaus Leader
  • Big Brother

(Please note that Kairos Leaders for the first retreat of the year – November 2009 – are appointed by the Director of Campus Ministry; students are invited to apply to lead later Kairos retreats after having attended their own as a retreatant during senior year.)

Saint Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Jesuits, called his colleagues “companions.” The importance of this companionship cannot be overstated. These priests realized that to be men for others, they needed to be men with others. Ignatius and the companions were resources for each other as they sought the presence of Jesus and brought his Gospel message to others.

Much in the same way, the Campus Ministry Team has an obligation to serve Prep students as companions – to accompany them on retreat, lead them through the school year, minister to them at Mass, and bring an experience of God to the corner of Grand and Warren.

EXPECTATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS FOR SELECTION:

To be selected for the Campus Ministry Team, ALL APPLICANTS MUST:

  • Attend the Campus Ministry Team retreat, from July 8 - 10 AND attend one of four Kairos retreats next year (scheduled for November 2009 and January, February, and April 2010)
  • Be a practicing member of your faith tradition who is able to speak candidly about your relationship with God

      Additionally, all Big Brothers must:

      • Decisions will be announced on Friday, May 21.
      • Please know that 98 students applied for 50 spots last year. Therfore, you are asked to put sincere thought, reflection, and prayer into your application before applying.

      Are there any costs involved?

      • Yes. Campus Ministry Team participants need to pay for their July 2009 Team Retreat, which costs $125, as well as their Kairos retreat (cost TBD). Financial aid is available for all Campus Ministry programming. Do not let cost prohibit you from being involved in the spiritual life of the school. Please see Mr. Heffernan with any questions or concerns.
